Kiros entered the Smoldering Corpse with the elf in tow. Near the entrance, he gave his customary nod to the flaming mage, Ignus. As ussually, the mage remained oblivious to the world, reveling in the flames.
Turning to the shifted kobold, he said, "Here we are." Kiros thought for a moment, then rolled his eyes, "You look like you might need some help here in Sigil. Not everyone is as restrained as I am. I'd be willing to stick with you, for say, 20 silver commons a week." Kiros stood by, awaiting Shrill's answer.

No ambush. Perhaps this man could be trusted after all. If he couldn't, then he cross that bridge when he came to it.
"Deal." He said, stretching out a hand to the man. "You can begin by telling me who that is." he pointed at Ignus, studying the man with fascination. He was not a fire elemental, the obvious pain the man suffered served as a testimony to that. Nor was he any other form of creature Shrill had ever encountered.

Kiros shook on the deal, "That man's name is Ignus. At one time, he was a powerful mage, who unfortunately for him, attempted to raze the Hive with his magic. A coalition of mages and hedge wizards came against him to stop him. They turned him into a direct portal to the plane of fire. I respect his power." Kiros motioned to the stairs leading up to the main area of the bar. "This way. Oh, and don't go near the abishai. They're rather nasty to tangle with." Kiros nodded to a githzerai near the rails around the bar area, except for spaces to go down where Ignus and the exit was.

"Friend of yours?" Shrill asked as he noticed the nod to the Githzerai.
This place was spectacular. Not just the bar, but the city itself. It seemed to stretch on and on. Nothing in Faerun even came close to matching it, although Waterdeep held a far more pleasant air even with the underdark lurking below like a hideous beast waiting to strike.
No this Sigil, this city of portals, was unmatched by anything he had ever encountered in his travels across the planes. For although he had never visited Sigil itself, Shrill had spent a fair few years traveling the planes and discovering exotic and rare forms.
To him, every creature and being held a unique beauty, and he enjoyed each form like the nobles of waterdeep enjoyed rare wines and foods.

"Yes, his name is Dak'kon." Kiros noticed the kobolds gawking looks around, "Try not to make direct eye contact, it could be taken as a challenge." Kiros ordered a goblet of bauriar blood, and moved to sit at the table with Dak'kon, allowing Shrill to do as he wished, though Kiros kept an eye on him.

He felt no pressing need to explore, instead ordering a goblet of firewine before sitting down at the same table as Kiros, putting his feet up on the table and raising his goblet to the githzerai.
"Greetings my friend." he said in his now lyrical tone of voice, taking a shallow sip from his wine as he let his eyes wander, taking in the bar in full. Just a amazing place. He couldn't wait for his guide to explain to him the inner workings of this world so he could blend in.
Shrill longed to be able to explore this place unnoticed, just another of it's countless inhabitants. Experience life as it was experienced by others.

Dak'kon nods at Shrill and Kiros. Looking at Shrill, he said, "I would *know* who you are." His karach blade ripples slightly as he speaks, and he studies Shrill with coal black eyes.

"I am sorry my friend, but your way of speech eludes me." He said softly, raising the goblet to his nose and taking a deep breath, enjoying the strong smell of the wine. People so rarely tried new things in life, especially when it came to food.
He deeply loved discovering new beverages and food, never turning down the change to taste a new wine or try a different food. Of course, he had picked up a few favorites along the years.
The strong and spicy drink of Zzar was always welcome, nothing complimented a warm fire on a cold night quite like winter wine and Dragon's breath beer carried with it the memories of many a fine brawl.
He took a deeper sip, the liquid going down with unbelievable smoothness.

Kiros grinned, "What Dak'kon means, is he wants to know what your name is." Kiros took a sip of his drink. "The githzerai place great importance on *knowing* things."

"I see. Very well my friend, my name is Shrill." He put his goblet down and rolled his shoulders, working out some of the stiffness.
"I'm a archer, a shifter and a traveler of the planes. Alas, I am also a newcomer to Sigil."

Kiros looks to Dak'kon, who siimply nods. "Dak'kon doesn't talk much." The tiefling bristled as an abishai brushed him as it walked past. It hissed, and continued on its way. "You'll have to learn the ways of Sigil quickly. The planes aren't a kind master." Kiros took a sip of his drink, "One thing, do not worship the Lady of Pain. In fact, its best to try to keep her out of your daily thought. Its safer that way."

"The lady of pain?"he asked before realization flashed in his eyes "Ahh yes, the mistress and ruler of this place. Although I admire the task she has set before her, I do not much care for the trappings of society nor am I one for worship."
He finished his wine, calling the attention of the barmaid. "Hello my dear, could you get me a..." he paused, pondering what to order for a second "glass of Kaorph." The young woman quickly fetched his drink and took the coin.
He once again raised his goblet, savoring the strong spicy taste of his drink. "How about you two then my friends? Spin me a tale of your fate." he said, the wine slowly starting to loosen his tongue.

Kiros studied the elf for a moment. "I do not wish to share my personal life with an employer. However, I suppose I could tell you about about a rather interesting being I have encountered in my my travels, if you wish to hear it." Kiros took a sip of blood.

Dak'kon bows his head to Kiros and Shrill. "It was good to *know* you." he says. He then sheathes his blade, and walks out of the bar.

"I am not one to turn a good tale down." Shrill responded as he leaned further back into his chair, goblet held in his hand as he smiled at the two.
"Fare well my friend." he says as Dak'kon departs, giving a last raise of his goblet in the direction of the man.
